What is repeat dispensing?
Repeat dispensing is an electronic process which allows the patient to obtain repeated supplies of their medication or appliances without the need to order form the GP directly every month/week. The GP will authorise a "batch" of repeat prescriptions usually between 6-12 months worth and the patient can collect their monthly/weekly prescription directly from the pharmacy.
Currently electronic repeat dispensing can only be used by patients with a nominated dispenser however any patient can request a nominated pharmacy to dispense their medication just by speaking to their chosen pharmacy and a member of the reception team.
